What do you usually shop for in summer? Summer dresses, flip flops, shorts, tank tops and swim suits. So I've been doing just that. It hasn't been easy though. I usually don't like shapeless things that are just hanging on me and make me look like a teenager but for some reason a big portion of merchandize in stores now looks exactly like that, shapeless.
I've tried shopping online but all my attempts ended up with returns, which is why I like Zappos (free shipping both ways). I don't think they can say the same about me since I wasted a lot of their shipping money on just sending things back a forth. Ooops :)
I've been looking for sales and tried to use coupons. At the end of the day, we are still sort of in a recession so I'm trying to be prudent. With all that, I managed to find a couple of great things I would like to share here.

The pants on the picture to the right are just awesome. I was looking for black pants for a while and I know that while it's not the most summerish color it's a must have item in the closet. Black pants are universal and while I've been hearing that green is a new black or grey is a new black, black is always black no matter what they say. It's classy and always looks dressy. It can be worn to the office, to dinner or drinks, to a birthday party or anywhere else. The trick is in the top and accessories. Want to be more dressed up? Wear these pants with a sparkly top or bracelets and necklace. Want to create a romantic summer look? Pair it with a light chiffon top, earrings and sunglasses. The fabric is very light which makes it perfect for summer and another great staple in my closet. I found them in Club Monaco, not my usual shopping spot because it's in a higher price range, and therefore pants were a bit expensive ($139) but they are really worth it.

The next item is a short sleeve shirt from Ann Taylor Loft. I love ruffled shirts, especially for summer and this one definitely puts me in a summer mood. It's classy and dressy enough to wear in the office and it's also perfect for meeting your girlfriends for a happy hour. Short sleeves help to deal with NY summer heat which honestly makes me feel like we are in Africa some time. You can find it online as well for $44.50.
The next is this light-weight skirt. I just love this skirt and I'm so happy that I found something like this. If you have been checking fashion magazines, bigger skirts in earthy tones are on every page. It wasn't an easy task to find the one that I like though. I wondered in to Mango on Broadway and Prince the other day and made a spontaneous decision, which I don't regret, to buy it (it cost me $72.96 with tax). For some reason, when i put it on, it makes me feel like a princess ;) I guess because it's puffiness and color. I love multiple layers and lace at the bottom (reminds me of my grandma pillow cases). I think it can create a perfect outfit for a Sunday brunch or a birthday party. I've worn it two times already and planning to wear at least 5 more times before summer is over. Wear it with black, white of pink top and wedges.
And finally here it is, THE SUMMER DRESS!!! I finally found this awesome long dress at Lord&Taylor, which was $65.13 after a 20% coupon. By the way, they had a change in policy and now require to actually have coupons handy when you shop there. I took picture of the back as well because it's my favorite part of this dress along with color. Lace makes it look dressy and color and shape - casual. So it's pretty much perfect for any occasion.
That's it for now, will write about my findings when I have something worthy to talk about!
